Welcome to the freedom at home team meeting and we have a great call tonight and we have a big topic tonight. And it's about Ameriplan versus insurance and I actually have one of my regional sales director and his name is Russ McCloskey and he's an insurance agent and he's also building his Ameriplan business and I've talked to Russ a couple of times and I'm always amazed how much information he  knows about the insurance industry. He's been doing it for a long time, so I thought you know it'll be kind of need for him to come over and you guys can really get into the head of an insurance person. And you guys get to know everything about the insurance and about Ameriplan.  Because the more you know about our services and the difference between insurance and dental plan and medical plan. You can grow. So with that being said I ''Russ are you on the call?"

I  am here, Janie.

Hi. thank you for being here. I know it's your Eastern Time and it's a little bit late. So I'm just going to go ahead and get the call started. cuz I know there's a lot of people that are, you know I'm supposed to hear about the difference between Ameriplan and the insurance. so I guess we can start off with a dental plan and we start of the dental plan because it's a really simple dental plan. By the way Russ, did you want to share a little bit about yourself?So they can just get to know a little bit about you.

My wife her name is Debbie and she's actually had her insurance license for a little over 15 years so it's a long time and I got my license about four years ago. Leaving around the 6-month area that I came across from Ameriplan only because we have all types of insurance with our business, every type of thing whether it's pre-existing people, are healthy people or whatever type of supplement that it might be so. When I actually stumbled upon nobody had to sell it to me or try to recruit me, when I actually thought myself I contacted you, I found you have plans but we can have it for our business and have another product to sell because it fits in very very well and it actually helps us out with our business a lot.

Great. that's awesome. Okay so do you feel better dental plans or medical plans with Ameriplan?

Well with the Ameriplan I don't normally sell just a dental. I do sell it as Dental, but because the difference in price is not that much. I fell $39.95 even when people are looking just for dental, because they get so many other benefits with it, that it's worth taking the whole thing, cuz they never know when they're going to be able to use it. So even though they are looking for dental only,  they normally take the entire thing of $39.95.


That is so great. I'm glad you mentioned that. it's like you know it's somebody if you got somebody that's calling you about a dental plan, they don't want all the other services right?

Well as knowing a lot about the insurance business and how much the cost is, just to sell a regular dental plan insurance, it's right around that $39.95 price. Anyway sometimes $60 or so. and if it's a family plan you can have it up to as high as $90 for the entire family for a regular dental insurance plan. So when I'm talking $39.95 for the dental plan and it includes all the rest of the stuff, people don't have a problem with that price at all.

wow that is so great. I've never looked at it that way, but it's so triple, most dental insurance plans $40, $50, $60, $68 a month right?

That is correct and believe it or not there so many things on a dental plan that are not covered and there's so many limitations to the dental plan of when it cuts off....


Even though this is a discount plan, it is not regular dental insurance plan. We actually for ourselves cancelled our dental insurance, because we did a lot more benefit out of the Ameriplan portion of the DeNTAL. So Right there saved us $55 for our dental insurance that we had for Debbie and me.  Because there was things she could not use with the dental insurance, She got that she HAVE  to use with the Amerplan.

Okay. so let's talking about, now what about the pre-existing condition? so with Ameriplan, you know if you have pre-existing conditions, you'RE accepted, right? 

Right. If you have regular dental insurance, there's not going to be any dental insurance that's going to do anything except pick up cleanings for the 6 months. You're not going to be able to get any work done like a root canal or a filling or anything like that on any of the dental insurances until you have paid for it for 6 months.  And then major work for any kind of reconstruction or anything that needs to be done in your mouth will not be picked up for a year, so you had to take the whole insurance for a year before it'll pick it up.  

For Ameriplan you can walk in and take the benefits that day no matter what the procedure is, and you'll get your 60 to 80% discount off from what the procedure is that you need, and there's no limitation. With the dental insurance does the maximum, you are going to get $1,500 benefit and after that, then your dental insurance is cut down to that calendar year, so there is no limitation on the Ameriplan insurance.

The pre-existing condition is covered at anytime. What about the waiting period. With Ameriplan we know you can go in and use it right away, right? 

That's correct.  Whereas with dental insurance, you got a six-month waiting period before you even touch any kind of a pre-existing condition at all,  and there's no waiting for you with Ameriplan.

Right. Okay. With Ameriplan, there's no limits or visits that you can go in as many times as you want. Now, what about with insurance?

With insurance, once you hit your limitation, most of them are $1,000 worth of benefit, and then the more expensive ones are a maximum of $1,500 worth of benefit. Once you hit that maximum, you shut down. I've got a friend who had work on one side of his mouth, he needed the same thing done on each side, he got his work done in January. And it used up his limits for the year, he has to wait till the next year before he could get the other side of his mouth work on, or else he was going to pay for the whole thing out of his pocket because he went over his limit for the year.  But you don't have to worry about that would be with Ameriplan Dental.

Right. Now with Ameriplan, there's no deductible. What about insurance?

The insurance, there's usually co-pays and it's not that there's going to be mostly, there's not going to be a deductible with the dental insurance, but they're going to pay x amount and then you're done.  So instead of it being a deductible, they're going to give you up to that $1,000 or $1,500 benefit, and then like I said you shut off for the year, and when they do give you that benefit, it is usually at a 50/50 meaning, even though you got the insurance, they're going to pay 50%, you're going to pay 50% until you reach your limitation. With Ameriplan, there is no 50-50.  they're going to give you the largest discount that you're going to be able to get, and then you pay the whatever your remaining, that's it.

Now, what about braces for kids? With Ameriplan you can just go into, cuz two of my son that we both have braces for them with Ameriplan.  So I just went in and just started using my savings right away.  But what about insurance?

With Insurance, most insurances won't even touch braces, you have to have special insurance for that. and the price on that just skyrocket. For your monthly basis,  monthly premium and with that they're not paying the whole thing. It's usually a 50/50 for the for a procedure like braces. With the Ameriplan you're going to get,  that's why I said with Debbie, she got more savings with the Ameriplan on her procedure than she did with regular insurance, and you will with braces also.

 Okay. What about Specialists?  With Ameriplan, specialize are all included. What about with insurance?


With the insurance for a specialist to be included, you're going to have to wait one full year for a specialist, if there's any kind of work that has to be done by a specialist and not a regular dentist, there's a one-year waiting period Before you can go to that special. and sat there and you had whatever your problem is and you pay for your insurance for a year before you're even going to be able to see The Specialist and have it covered by insurance.


What about age limit? I know with the Ameriplan there's absolutely no age limit. What about insurance?

With the insurance,  on the dental insurance for the age limit, I am not sure, cuz usually I am writing a whole family plan, so I am not sure. but I know with Amriplan, there's no age limit.  Everybody in the house covered, no matter what their ages.

Right, With Ameriplan, there's no claim form. This is so cool. You just go in there's no insurance form, it just the end of the story. Now, what insurance I guess there is a form to fill out. Right?

Right. You have to fill out your whole life story when you go in there, and you have to, also for THE most of the dentists are going to actually have to, have you pay upfront and then wait for your reimbursement from the insurance company. that's how most of it works. whereas with Ameriplan and you don't have to pay, you don't have to do any kind of paperwork, you just get your maximum discounted rate, you pay the difference and that's the end of it.


Right. With Ameriplan, I know that we can change the dentist. You know as long as they're in their Ameriplan provider list, I can go from one dentist to another.  What about insurance?

With insurance, you with insurance, you can change the dentist, they have to be within that provider's list. And the only thing is when you're changing a dentist, you can actually do something to the claim that you've already filed, where with Ameriplan anytime that you changed it doesn't affect anything with your plan, you still get the maximum discount, no matter what things do you think within the network.


Right. Ameriplan membership is $24.95 a month for a single plan or $24.95 for the entire household, and of course, to get the vision, prescription, Chiropractic and actually that rated is guaranteed for 2 years. but I've been with the company for nine years and I don't remember they raising membership fee very often. So what about insurance? How's the membership fee in the rate? I mean do they change often or do they keep them for a while?


Yes. I am going to say with regular insurance, you suffered price increases at any time, so they do change quite a bit and we've had quite a few price changes recently with a few of our plans, and that can happen at any time with no notice. You know you'll get a letter in the mail as of next month we're having a price increase of x amount, and what you're getting for your dental insurance. it is just so much more than it is for that $24.95 Ameriplan and you're getting the other things that go with also chiropractic, vision and prescriptions also, and you don't get that when you buy the dental plan,  all you're getting is just your regular dental plan.

Right. With Ameriplan, there's 30-day money back guarantee. I love this. When I'm talking to a prospect I just to say listen, go to use your dental membership card,  if you don't see the savings in 30 days you get your money back. I mean that's how sure the company knows you're going to see the savings. Do insurance people, do they have?  I guess they do have refunds or guarantees or do they?

The only thing they have is what they call 10 days, not 30 days. Any type of thing where you can see if this is a plan that you want but it's only ten days rather than the than 30 days that Ameriplan has, so it's definitely worth its money without a doubt.

Okay. I got a lot of people to ask if they have Medicare or Medicaid, can they use this dental plan Ameriplan membership?

You can use it with no matter what you have whatever is going to save you the most money is what you use, and 99% of the time it's going to be the Ameriplan is going to give you a bigger savings than your co-pays would be, with any of the other, any of your attention you can still have your regular dental insurance, you can still have your regular health insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, doesn't matter how old you are, and it doesn't affect the Ameriplan what's so ever.

So if a person goes into a dentist and they have a medical, Literally have a dental plan and would you recommend to give them both of the cards Ameriplan and insurance?

 First and see what their co-pay would be,  actually first see if your insurance is even going to cover what the procedure is what they're looking for, and talk about the Ameriplan and find out what the prices of their Ameriplan and nine times out of 10 your price with the Ameriplan is going to be less than what the co-pay is or it's going to cover something that wasn't covered by the dental insurance 

all right yeah one question I do get a lot of people they will have you guys offer this little dental plan for $14 or 19 and they also come with a vision prescription Chiropractic and I always just tell him if it will let you know they've been doing this for 20 years it works really well you know just drive customers to the dentist and it does didn't have to advertise and so you know they pass on the savings to us, you know as a man and most of the dentist they love that because a lot of dentists are saying that when a patient comes in with insurance, it takes them a while for them to get paid.


That's the biggest thing is that the dentist doctors whoever might be around and wait for the money from the insurance company to come and hit,  the Ameriplan that's why they're giving them such discount on front is because they pay for the service right up there,  they don't have to worry about filling out claim forms and doing the paperwork to the insurance company, and they know they're getting their money right there from patient and they don't have to worry about chasing it. That's why they're going to pass on the savings and the dentist has all these overhead to me they've got to pay you know the staff and the building and all that so yeah so they'll of America has been working out really really well for 20 years the great I think we covered pretty much all the dental pretty well it's a no-brainer it's like I don't even know why people are still by you no dental insurance I don't know now what about the medical so are you are you pretty what is it the medical I know a lot of people sometimes get a little bit confused you know they're wondering is like even if somebody calls me do you know how do I know that this is a good plan for them so what would you say what would I tell him what is good for everybody there's no reason we brought it into our company because in insurance with insurance health insurance there is holes ever no matter what playing you tell somebody you can sell them the best plan on the planet there's going to be gassing is going to behold and for that 49,95 for the entire family they can fill in those holes and try to recoup some of that money that they're spending out with the health insurance with their hair plan they can save that money and fill in the holes with that Ameriplan we also sell it for so many people that right now a policy is for a family has three four five hundred sometimes in different parts of the country $6,700 per month for the family so we'll have people that call us looking for insurance now we get him a quote and it's just not feasible so in the past before I brought in Ameriplan I can't do anything with those people I had to turn them away because they just cannot afford it so now I have an alternative what I can sell them the Ameriplan because having that discount savings Florida is so much better than me just telling him that I had they had nothing and they can't have anything so for 4995 everybody can afford that no matter who calls me they're going to be able to afford that so I either sell it to people that can't afford their health insurance or I sell it to people that have the health insurance while getting a new plan because it fills in the gaps I sold two policies today and both family Ameriplan as my customers because it fills in all those gaps of health insurance they bought is going to have well you know one thing that drives me crazy about insurance company that I was looking for insurance away before Ameriplan ask you like 900 question do you have puppy has allergies allergies all this question and if you said I guess it just depends how you answer will determine on the raid and I'm like what you're supposed to do insurance company or supposed to go to you when we need to services not turn it away or charges more money for it

and what I'm putting in an application for health insurance it might take me 45 minutes to an hour to complete one application in the computer because of all the questions and then we have to wait as agents and the pilot has to wait between two and four weeks before we're going to get an approval on that application or not when I put in Ameriplan application takes probably 5 6 minutes and you know that it's approved right then no matter what as long as their payment that they put through is a good payment it's going to go through with no problem no questions asked

they don't have to worry about that right like I said we'd Insurance everybody is not accepted and it's just a I don't know how many people from the country around the call but some states are guaranteed approval with everybody's accepting with the insurance but no states that health insurance premium is so outrageously expensive because everybody's except so it's probably three people that can afford that policy when they are guaranteed acceptance you know

it's like okay well you can have this adjustable bed thing you take will determine your premium amount so I could get a real ID Duncanville for using order to have like a $300 a month payment and that's the nicest thing one thing in America has a lot of people don't even know how it works is a hospital and we do cell plans with up to a $10,000 deductible just so the client can afford it so they're sitting there with insurance just they have health insurance they don't if they go into the hospital they got to pay that first $10,000 out of your pocket before it starts to kick in with the Ameriplan health advocacy that is the best because when they come out of the hospital and all of their deductible billed settle out they can turn that over to their Ameriplan Health Advocate and let them negotiate that bill on their behalf they don't have to get involved in that Ameriplan will negotiate that for them and they will Wendell. Pill down to practically nothing I had a lady that I was trying to sell Ameriplan to and the only reason I couldn't sell it to her cuz she already had it and loves you she took her son to the emergency room he had a broken arm and feel with $6,000 she didn't have any insurance she took that $6,000 Bill and believe it or not they negotiated down 2-0 Bill became 0 for her and she had no health insurance all she had a lot of those stories and people when it whenever I say well enough all I know is that I know a lot of our team members that email and they say hey I had to go to the hospital and I used to Mara plan instead of paying $30,020 and $10,000 bill have a big program negotiated down to six hundred $300 and one lady said they negotiated down to zero I mean it's nothing too good to be true

do you take a $10,000 insurance policy knowing that you're going to have that deductible bill pay if you ever have to go in the hospital that's why I be an airplane is perfect fall back on when you come out of the hospital even though you have two health insurance don't work perfectly with regular health insurance

when they say I already have insurance that's great you have insurance keep your insurance this is what you need to fill in all the gaps that your insurance has

why do you know it's pretty for medical program that has if you go to the doctor if you go to the doctor very often I need is this a good plan for them like with us very often so we have Ameriplan to medical and we love it because if we need to go to the doctor and I will just pay you know whatever we need to go and see the doctor but for x-rays like I had my son needed a sonogram and instead of paying $800 we paid a hundred so I use the Merit plan for the you know the the ancillary services like X-rays and lab work and I'm fine with that I mean so this is perfect for me. What about the people that have tons of children and they're going to the doctor you know all the time will they be happy with this program or what would you say you look at your network and find out what that you're going to use the time your network they're going to have a beautiful negotiated rate so that you might when you go to that doctor or your children he paying only a 20-25 maybe $30 at the Mac for that doctor bill that is the same or less than would have co-pay would be if you have regular insurance with that regular Insurance you're paying 200 $300 a month where is this one here you're paying 4995 for the entire family and you're going to get the same payment when you go to that doctor and you can go as many times you not limited where is with insurance a lot of different carriers have limitations you can only go three times 4 times 5 times a year do you get into the unlimited plan now your premium starts going higher and higher and higher so you don't have to worry about that and you can use it as many times as you need

that's phenomenal because just sit there and of course it's something that's life threatening or not going to be able to diagnose if they're going to advise you to go to the hospital or call 911 you can sit but if you have a problem that you need to consult with the doctor and they can diagnose that over the phone you can be sitting in your home they can I have a lady that elderly lady she talked about what it was it something is reoccurring to her they called in the prescription for her or daughter went and picked it up and she never had to leave the house only thing she had to pay was her very small propane pick up a prescription she had no fee to the doctor because that's included in the end I call it teladoc so they that was included in the teladoc and she had her doctor's phone they called in a prescription and her daughter went and picked it up for she never had to leave the house Eric Wright still in my children were little I would have loved to have that service because in every time they would get a cold immediately if we're going to an ear infection and I would have to go to the doctor and sit there and now I can all have to do is pick up the phone and he can just call it in for me which is so cool

play in my life I had the flu I know I had the flu I know it was happening and I too lazy to go to the doctor and I just kept taking over the counter over the counter in two and a half weeks later I just couldn't shake it and I couldn't handle anymore so I had to go to the walk-in clinic at the sit there and wait I had to go into the doctor's office I had to let him do all of his stuff and give me the same prescription that I get every single time I get to float a z-pack and I had to do all of that and pay my co-pay whereas if I had the Ameriplan back then I would have called to tell a doc told exactly what the symptoms are gone over all my questions they were prescribing the z-pack right over the phone and then I picked it up and just at the party for me

insurance and now I'm the one that was telling me that with insurance that somebody said something as soon as they sell insurance they tell their their their members if I quit when your insurance payment goes up and he will make sure you call me because I already know it's going to go up a lot of people that get paid to go in a shop around and they go and get other insurance insurance company that true

oh yeah he doesn't matter if a couple of months ago that exactly what we did my Michael needed you know I had all these issues with a cold and the flu and they called it in and he's called a z-pack for it and I'll pick it up and came back home really nice

AirHeads no. So why don't you want to talk about you know you have a lot of experience on the medical the difference between what is the biggest difference between Ameriplan Pino the medical and insurance I guess there's a premium right

a health insurance plan for a single person for less than a hundred and fifty would be the absolute load up to 250 $300 I just had a lady today she was 62 years old / premiun was $280 that's for one single person where is it's 4995 for everybody in the household will be covered under Ameriplan with medical you're going to have to pay your co-pays and on top of what your premium is so why not just pay whatever your your portion of the bill would be with the Ameriplan discounted price and save all that money that you're paying and premium each month

with insurance that somebody said something as soon as they sell insurance they tell their their their members if I quit when your insurance premium goes up and it will make sure you call me because I already know it's going to go up and a lot of people that can say they going to shop around and they go and get other insurance insurance company that that true because these premiums jumping arount like crazy

I'm going up and we'll tell people when your premium goes up give us a call we'll shop around and see if we can find you anybody that's got to let them yell alola premium at that time and with Ameriplan there ain't like that so that's one thing you don't have to worry about you got 4995 and you don't have to worry about that
it's really bad and thick commissions are being cut and what's going on well first of all because of his health care reform the insurance companies are petrified right now they'll catch her side of movie business if everything goes through with this Health Care reform so the first thing they did in January 2011 is the insurance agents Commissions in half and here's a big thing of anybody's out there that was thinking that they wanted to be if I had an airplane before I had my insurance license I would have never gone to all the money expense in the aggravation of getting my insurance license I would have just concentrated only on Ameriplan and made it my whole business right from the beginning because of all the time and effort and money that it takes to get an insurance license and then two years after I got into it what do they do interesting conditions in half and then they took away all of our residuals where has with Ameriplan there's nothing out there in this world that you're going to sell a $50 policy for and get paid $20 every single month for as long as that person's on the plan there is nothing we shall plans that are $400 and we might get if we get a residual we might get $2 a month after a year after year

go somewhere else right that's exactly why we have to try to make sure they don't go to another agent to try to get a different product so you don't really have to worry about your client nothing you want to ignore them in any way but they call directly to Ameriplan for any questions they have reddi Services indeed they called airplane directly we don't have to get involved with any of airplanes or anything like that because there are no planes and we get paid in my opinion there's nothing that pay the higher residual the name airplane

I think I got a little bit spoiled cuz I have no idea you know how really nice we have it here until what I started talking to other people that are there out there and you know insurance or people in other other companies and I had no idea that we offer like the largest residential and it's and it's that's exactly right and you like I said we deal he's got approximately 15 different companies and not one company do we get anything on them might be residual like this nothing nothing at all so now I mean of course you know you're building a team as well beginning I got it just because of us being agents and I wanted to sell the product I needed it for our business that's why I got in there playing not even realizing that you could tell the team 10 from your emails that were coming in and I'm hoping that other people are doing what I did was I pretty much in the beginning I was ignoring your emails because I wasn't thinking of that I was just thinking of selling the product then after I read a couple of the emails and then called you a few times and started talking to you I was seeing all of the potential of what you can do by getting a team and so now what I do is both eyes I do the coop so that I get video of requests for interviews and very easy to build to build a team very easy just got to help everyday I work it for a certain portion of my day and send out emails and a couple phone calls and it's it's building its building and like I said in the beginning I wasn't even thinking of that and now I love it I know you really care about you want them to grow and you have some Dynamic people in your organization that are just joining your team so it's exciting isn't it

 talked about it before two beers every other kind of network marketing companies that just soon as they see you think that you're starting to make money and things are starting to go in everything they end up folding up they run their course and they've exhausted themselves and now that the company has just died out and that does not and will not happen with this because they have such a good service that the company will never never die out so that's the biggest difference is that you can build a team because the company has such a good service I provide to the public that will make the company stay in business for trip forever been here for 20 years now

and I don't think we're over saturated what do you think hey I'm in the business but I never even heard of Ameriplan so it can't be oversaturated I know because we love that we can say we've been around but we're not like oversaturated where you going to hit Ameriplan you know I be owing every quarter or anything like that

Mountaineer plant as customers that's great you want everybody to know about it so that when you talk to somebody that likes to get into having their own home-based business they have a reputable company that everybody else has heard of so it's easy to get into it's not something that brand new and you don't know if it's going to work or not or if some you know some company that you here today and gone tomorrow you know I think sometimes people don't really understand you know what they have in front of them or some of them I feel like all I have to sell insurance as I did this nothing like in Shanghai this like it's a little membership that you're out there and it's helping a lot of people save money and you get it rewarded handsomely every single month for that like I like I say I want people that want to show insurance but don't want to go through all the hassle of getting another thing is when you sell insurance and you go through the hassle of getting your license you got your license in that one state you can only sell in that one state will you get a license to the next day and the next day and the next day with Ameriplan once you come out of the Refuge and sell it all 50 states you can't do that with health insurance

occasionally I hear people say well there's other dental plans out there and I always say yeah I know there's other dental plans out there however we've been around the longest and they can go and compare the savings then we have the biggest a thing so I don't even feel like we're competing against other people

the longer than anybody else in any kind of dental Savings Plan and the reputation is there everybody's heard of the Ameriplan dental plan and these other ones that are out there they don't compare at all at a free prescription card two people I give it all the time I put my link on Facebook and that's the thing anybody has got their Facebook or Twitter or whatever they're doing send out that free prescription card and then people will then start to get automated emails from you and learn more about Ameriplan without you even having to do anything that's what's the nice thing about the freedom of home website

go card and you know how much of a value can it be value is it's free and it's going to save you money so there's no reason for people not to take it it gives you good savings and you can't ask for any more value than that when you didn't have to pay for it
Noel when you're in a really tight budget some of them are foregoing her medication or their self medicating himself like with her taking okay this pill today but I won't take it tomorrow or after cutting them in half because they can't afford with her insurance company can't afford no to I help them out

hard let him start with that and see what America is all about how they can save money on that and that will lead them into wanting the dental place are the medical plan or something else do you know yeah I was so excited when we went we went to Convention and didn't send Daniel announced it free prescription card and I'm like old is going to be so good you know we're helping a lot of people out there you know it until it's bad you know you don't get people referring people to you just because you you're giving out this free prescription card so definitely take advantage of it don't you ever give you ever get the prescription card to people you just do it all online online and the reason is they said when you go online and do it they actually sent it to you in the mail you just send them to the envelope they actually put the prescription card in the mail and they send it right to you so that people are actually getting in the mail they feel like they're actually getting a physical card and then it gives me the instructions everything on how to use it absolutely

COMMON DENTAL TERMS AND DEFINITIONS
Abscess: an infected, inflamed area containing pus, usually caused by a problem tooth.
Abutment: a tooth or root that is fitted with a crown to support a bridge or partial denture.
Alloy: a mixture of two or more metals. Several alloys are used to repair teeth: noble (mostly silver), high noble (mostly gold) and “base” metals. The cost of a filling or crown depends on which alloy is used.
Amalgam: a metal alloy used in filling cavities.
Base metal: metal alloys used for partials or crowns which contain no precious metals.
Bitewing x-ray: films of upper and lower teeth used to check for decay between teeth and under gums.
Bonding: a cosmetic procedure that restores damaged teeth.
Bridge: a non-removable replacement for missing teeth made with crowns and pontics.
Cavity: tooth decay caused by bacteria which, if not treated, can destroy the tooth.
Cephalometric x-ray: used to make precise measurements for braces.
Crown: an artificial tooth or cap which covers a tooth weakened by decay.
Denture: an artificial substitute for natural teeth and surrounding tissues.
Diagnostic photographs: pictures taken by the dentist to plan treatment, particularly for braces.
Diagnostic cast: a mold or “study model” of the mouth made by taking an impression of the teeth.
Endodontics: the treatment of tooth pulp disease and infections of the root canal.
Filling: a durable material (gold, a resin, or amalgam) used to fill a cavity and halt decay.
Fluoride: a compound used in water and dental products and procedures to reduce tooth decay.
Full mouth x-rays: 12 to 18 films taken when needed to check on dental disease. Gingiva: gum tissue.
Gingivectomy: the surgical removal of diseased or inflamed gum tissue. Gingivitis: an early stage of gum disease that causes inflammation.

Impacted tooth: a tooth that does not come through the gum normally.
Inlay: A precision cast filling that is cemented in a prepared cavity, usually made of gold or

porcelain.
Malocclusion: an abnormal alignment of the teeth.
Onlay: a precision cast filling, usually made of gold or porcelain, covering the entire chewing surface of the tooth; larger than an inlay.
Oral surgery: a dental specialty limited to the surgical removal of teeth and the treatment of disease, deformities, and defects of the jaws and associated structures.
Orthodontics: the alignment of teeth, usually through the use of braces.
Osseous surgery: repair of the bone structure supporting the teeth that has been

damaged by gum disease.


Panoramic x-ray: a complete view of the teeth, jaws and surrounding bone on one film. Partial denture: removable artificial teeth that keep the remaining natural teeth from
changing position and improve chewing ability.
Pediatric Dentistry: a dental specialty limited to treatment of children from birth through adolescence.
Pedicle soft tissue: graft replacement of damaged gum tissue.
Periapical x-ray: close-up of an individual tooth and the surrounding tissue.
Periodontal disease: gum disease.
Periodontics: the prevention and treatment of gum disease.
Periodontitis: a more severe gum disease that can lead to tooth loss in adults.
Plaque: a sticky, nearly clear layer of bacteria on teeth.
Pontic: an artificial tooth used in bridges.
Prophylaxis: a teeth cleaning to remove tartar, plaque and stains.
Prosthodontics: a dental specialty limited to the restoration to the natural teeth and/or the replacement of missing teeth.
Pulp: the live tissue within the tooth.
Pulp capping: the use of medicine on a decayed part of a tooth to protect the pulp and

help healing.
Pulpotomy: partial or complete removal of damaged dental pulp to relieve pain. A root canal is usually recommended to save the tooth.
Quadrant: one-fourth of the mouth.
Reline: to add new material on the underside of a denture to improve the fit and chewing

ability.
Resin filling: a tooth-colored plastic material used instead of alloys for a less noticeable, more natural appearance.
Root canal: a treatment used on a tooth with damaged pulp to stop infection and save the tooth. The pulp is completely removed, the inside of the tooth is sterilized and sealed to prevent infection.
Scaling and root planing: a thorough cleaning of tooth surfaces below the gum line to eliminate inflammation and control disease, usually performed during several visits and under local anesthetic.
Sealant: a plastic coating applied to teeth to prevent decay.
Tartar: mineralized, hardened plaque that cannot be removed by brushing and flossing. Temporomandibular joints: the left and right hinges that connect the jaw with the skull. Tooth surface: one of the five sides of a tooth above the gum line.

加牙冠过程通常需要两次访问。
通常牙医需要两个单独的预约来为患者制作和放置新的牙冠。
